General Description	Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) is synthesized from its precursor pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC). It is released from anterior pituitary gland in response to corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) from hypothalamus. The gene encoding ACTH is localized on human chromosome 2p23.3.
