AICAR (5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide-1-beta-D-ribofuranosyl 5'-monophosphate) is a natural metabolic intermediate of purine biosynthesis that is present in all organisms. Its synthesis method is that: A mixture of 5-amino-1-β-D-ribofuranosylimidazole-4- carboxamidine 3',5'-cyclic phosphate and NH4OH was heated 100°C for 16 h to give 5-amino-1-β-D-ribofuranosylimidazole-4- carboxamide 3',5'-cyclic phosphate. The 5-amino-1-β-D-ribofuranosylimidazole-4-carboxamide(AICAR ) may be produced by hydrolysis of 5-amino-1-β-D-ribofuranosylimidazole-4-carboxamide 3',5'- cyclic phosphate with NaOH.
