4 Preparation of 3-hydroxy-4-nitrobenzoic acid (Compound 4A)
3-hydroxybenzoic acid (220mg, 1.6mmol) was dissolved in acetonitrile and, after complete dissolution was slowly added portionwise ammonium cerium nitrate (1.26g, 2.3mmol), stirred at room temperature overnight.At the end of the reaction, the reaction was quenched with water, extracted with ethyl acetate and combined organics.Dry, concentrated under reduced pressure, and purified by column chromatographySolid product compound 4A (85 mg, 27% yield).
