Steps:
4.2.1. Desilylation of 1a
To (2-bromo-2',6'-dimethoxy-biphenyl-3-yl)trimethylsilane 1a (1.50 mmol, 548 mg) in THF (15.0 mL) was added under Argon and at 25 °C a solution of TBAF (4.50 mmol) in THF (4.50 mL). The mixture was stirred at 25 °C for 16 h, hydrolyzed with water (100 mL) and extracted with Et2O (100 mL). The organic layer was washed with water (2 × 100 mL) and dried over Na2SO4. After evaporation of the solvent under reduced pressure, a mixture of 3a and 4a (3a/4a 30:70, 183 mg, 49%) was isolated by column chromatography (cyclohexane/CH2Cl2 8:2).
