General procedure: An 8 mL screw cap tube, containing a magnetic stirring bar and molecular sieves 4? (50 mg), washeated at 125 °C (oil bath) under vacuum and filled with nitrogen after cooling to 23 °C. To this tubewere added Ir(4-MeOppy)3 (4.5 mg, 6.0 μmol, 3.0 mol %), Cp2Zr(OTf)2·THF (5.9 mg, 10.0 μmol, 5.0mol %), 1-methyl-3-phenyl thiourea (T3) (19.9 mg, 0.12 mmol, 60 mol %), α,α,α-trifluorotoluene (4.0 mL),1,4-cyclohexadiene (58.6 μL, 0.60 mmol, 3.0 equiv), and epoxide (0.20 mmol). The mixture wasirradiated with 456 nm LED (Kessil) for 12 h. The mixture was passed through a short silica gel pad(acetone). The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by silica gel columnchromatography or PTLC to afford products. For volatile products, yields were determined by GCanalysis using n-decane as an internal standard.
